Paul-Matthieu Grondin advises senior employees, high-level and C-suite executives on the termination of their employment, from severance packages to incentive compensation, including tax considerations and the legal nuances of settlement agreements and releases.

Over the years, he has contributed to legal discourse by publishing more than 150 blog posts on recent developments in labour and employment case law.

At the outset of his career, he worked as counsel for the House of Commons of Canada before joining the Oliphant Commission, which was mandated to investigate business dealings between the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney and Mr. Karlheinz Schreiber. He later served as counsel to the Honourable Michel Bastarache at the commission of inquiry into the judicial appointment process.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University. Mtre. Grondin co-founded Grondin Savarese with Roberto Savarese in February 2009. He has since been invited to speak at the Université de Sherbrooke, McGill University, HEC Montréal, Jean Moulin University Lyon 3, the American Bar Association, and the Barreau du Québec.

In January 2014, he won first prize at the International Public Speaking Competition in Brussels, Belgium. That same year, he was elected President of the Young Bar of Montreal, becoming the 115th president in its history.

From 2017 to 2021, he was elected and re-elected Bâtonnier of Quebec, thereby becoming the youngest president in the history of both the Barreau and Quebec’s professional orders.
